2007: Division I Playoffs - 1st Round SEASON STATS

2007 was a rebuilding year for the 3rd & 4th Grade squad. Not a single returning starter in the offensive backfield and the offensive line had FOUR 3rd Graders starting on it if you include Tight Ends. However even with the new faces on the squad, Coach Infranca was able to start out quickly by winning the Savannah Tournament up in Savannah Missouri. As for the start of the NSYFL season, the squad was not so luckly as they faced the Western Conference Champion Pirates and suffered a 6-0 loss. In week two the schedule did not get any easier as they faced the Eastern Conference Champion Necco Raiders and fell 14-0 without starting Tailback Tyrice Bennett (#44).

Even after starting the year 0-2, the Wolverines rebounded to string together 6 consecutive wins and a 2nd place finish in the Eastern Conference and a birth in the Division I Playoffs. The playoffs did not fair so well for the squad as they seemed to have ran out of gas against an impressive Chiefs team yet even with the loss still had a GREAT year with several exciting moments and some outstanding personal achievements.

4th Grade Tailback #44 Tyrice Bennett rushed for 943 yards making him 5th All-Time on the 3rd & 4th Grade Single Season Rushing Yards list. He was one yard shy of setting the single game rushing yard mark of 231 yards when he rushed for 230 yards versus the Chargers. 3rd Grade Wide Receiver Justin Mitchell tied the All-Time Receiving Touchdown Record with 3 and set the Single Season Record. Justin was one yard shy of the single game receiving yard record of 73 yards when he caught 2 passes for 72 yards.

Defensively, 4th Grade Lineman #75 Tyler Hern finished the season with 49.5 total tackles putting him 2nd on the Single Season Total Tackle list. He also finished 2nd for Single Season Solo Tackles with 38. 4th Grade defensive lineman #58 Anthony Bengimina finished the year with 45 tackles putting him 3rd on the All-Time Single Season Total Tackle list and 3rd on the Single Season Assisted Tackle list with 40.

As a group, the 3rd & 4th Grade defense did outstanding and until the very last game of the year were on pace to break several team records.

All in all it was a great year and going 6-3 with as many 3rd Graders that played key roles this year, the 3rd & 4th Grade Missouri Wolveriens did an outstanding job and made us all very proud.

2006: Division I Playoffs - 2nd Round

2006 was an up and down year for the 3rd and 4th Grade Wolverines. The squad began the year with two shutouts over the Packers and Giants before a tough loss to the Raiders which catapulted into a 2 game losing streak. The team got back on track with their first win ever over the Northland Chiefs. The squad finished the regular season out 5-3 and qualified for the Division I Playoffs for the first time in team history. In the first round of the playoffs, the Wolverines bounced back and avenged an earlier season loss to the Missouri Valley Vikings 18-00, which was the first ever win ever in the Upper Division Playoffs for 3rd and 4th Grade squad. The Wolverines season came to an end in second round of the Division I Playoffs where they lost to the eventual 2006 SuperBowl Champion Chargers which is the furthest the 3rd & 4th squad has ever went in the playoffs. Aside from a great year as a team, individual accolades were handed out to 4th Grader Sal Silvio who had an outstanding season and set just about every defense record a player can have on this level. Sal started as a 2nd Grader and finished strong his 4th Grade year with an outstanding 56.0 total tackles on defense and rushed the ball for over 1100 yards on over 200 carries on offense.

2005: Division II Champions

2005 became a breakout year for the 3rd & 4th Grade squad as for the first time the Wolverines proved they could physically match up with the powerhouses of the NSYFL. The squad finished with an 8-2 overall record and missed going to the Division I Playoffs via a tiebreaker. The squad's only two losses came at the hands of the two teams who would eventually play in the Super Bowl and both losses were by less than a touchdown. By the end of the seaoson, the squad was playing fantastic and ran away with the Division II Championship. It marked the first year the squad had actually won the Division II Championship after appearing in the game the last 3 years. Also included in the 2005 highlights, was the squad's first win over the Jets. Individual efforts included 4th Grader Paul Silvio rushing for 1119 yards with 22 Touchdowns, both of which became new 3rd & 4th Grad Single Season Records. Quarterback Ross Juliana set a new Single Season Record with 305 yards passing and 4 Toucdowns. On defense, 3rd Grader Sal Silvio became the squad's All-Time Leading Tackler as a 3rd Grader. Sal also set Single Season Records for Total Tackles, Assisted Tackles, Sacks, and Interceptions.

2004: Division II Runner Up

For the third straight season, the Wolverines 3rd & 4th Grade squad found themselves on the short end of the Division II Championship Game. The Wolverines started the season off with an impressive win against the Chargers however then faced what would be the 4 Division I Playoff teams the next 4 games and eventually dropped 5 in a row. The squad rebounded to win the final two games of the year and eventually got themselves into the Division II Championship Game. The biggest obstacle that this squad had to overcome was the fact that only 8 4th Graders were on the team this year and several starters were 3rd Graders with the 2nd leading tackler on the team being a 2nd Grader. Despite this, outstanding numbers were put up by players this year with Sal Calandrino becoming the 3rd & 4th Grade All Time Tackler and Tailback Anthony Arens becoming the first Wolverine to rush for over 1000 yards in a single season. So although no championships were won this year, the best crop of incoming talent not only participated but contributed and as the young grow old, the 2005 season is looking pretty good for the 3rd & 4th Grade Missouri Wolverines.

2003: Division II Runner Up

2003 was the first year for Head Coach Phil Infranca. After starting the season 0-3, the Wolverines rebounded to win the next 4 out of 5 games and finished the regular season at 4-4. However two of the Wolverines four losses came in overtime games. The Wolverines loss the first game of the season to the defending Super Bowl Champion Chiefs 0-6 in Double Overtime. In Game 7, the Wolverines lost to the Jets in Overtime 12-18. For the second straight year, the Wolverines ended up in the Division II Championship Game however for the second straight year came up on the short end of the stick as they fell to the Pirates.

2002: Division II Runner Up

After finishing the 2002 regular season with a dismal 2-6 record, Head Coach Joe Brown and Offensive Coordinator Mike Fitzwater were able to get the Wolverines into the Division II Championship game by avenging a loss to the Sharks from earlier in the season. The Wolverines ended up losing in the Division II Championship Game however finished the season playing good football.

2000: Iron Man Football

With just 13 players on the team, the 2000 3rd & 4th Grade Wolverines, led by Head Coach Chuck Bengimina and Offensive Coordinator Frank Favoroso, went 4-4 in the regular season and qualified for the Division II Playoffs.
