7th & 8th Grade
Larry Marshall Award

The Larry Marshall Award is given to the 7th & 8th Grade player who exemplifies and represents Missouri Wolverines Football both on and off the field. This award goes to the player representing the Missouri Wolverines philosophy of "Gentlemen With Courage" Philosophy. The award winner is picked by the coaches and is awarded to the player whom they believe will represent the Wolverines as they move on to high school.

GENTLEMEN WITH COURAGE
Missouri Wolverines Football was developed with the intent of helping young athletes develop their skills both on and off the field as they prepare for high school. With this in mind, we stress to each player that someone should only recognize them as a football player by their size. We do not tolerate bullies or players that have to cause trouble off the field. The Wolverines preach the philoshopy of "Gentlemen With Courage" to players. This means that on the field you need to be a hard nose aggressive athlete, giving 100% each and every play. However, off the field, you are to conduct yourself as a gentlemen. The fallacy that football players have to be tough guys all the time is not only ridiculous but not tolerated in our organization. We ask our players to have the courage to use their brains instead of their brawn, hence is why with each passing year more and more high school coaches around the area are complimenting the Wolverines players as they move on to local high school teams.

[Larry Marshall at the 2006 Awards Banquet] WHO IS LARRY MARSHALL?
Larry Marshall is the President of the Kansas City Chiefs Ambassadors Club and a former NFL Kick Return Specialist for the Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, and Philadelphia Eagles. For more about Larry Marshall - CLICK HERE.

WHY IS THE AWARD NAMED THE LARRY MARSHALL AWARD?
Larry has friends and relatives on the Missouri Wolverines Coaching Staff and was the featured guest at the 2003 Jim Tuso Football Camp. As Larry was delivering a compeling speech to the campers, he announced that the player showing the most heart and succeeding both on and off the field, would receive a signed autographed football from the Kansas City Chiefs Ambassadors. In 2003, the award was given to a player on each of the three levels however in 2004 the award was condensed to honor the 8th Grader exemplifying the qualities listed above. The Missouri Wolverines entire organization is appreciative to Larry and all that he has done for the Missouri Wolverines, hence is why this award is named the Larry Marshall Award.
