2007 Flag Blue
MISSOURI WOLVERINES
Season Record: 4-5
The 2007 Blue Squad faced one of the toughest schedules in the league in part because of the 2006 squad's success yet the 2007 squad did an outstanding job especially with all the new faces on the squad. 5 of the 8 regular season games were against 2007 Playoff teams and 4 of those games were against the top 4 teams in the regular season standings.
The Blue Team only had 2 returning players from last year's Super Bowl Team and those were 3 year Wolverines Ryan Potts and Nick Bengimina who were great leaders and set outstanding examples for the other players. Every other player was either on one of the other Wolverine Flag Squads or a first year player to the organization.
Returning players from other Wolverines Flag Squads included 3 year Wolverine Digger Dobbler who after playing on both Yellow and White in previous years makes his final flag stop on the Blue Squad before joining brother Max's path to 3rd & 4th Grade. Other returing players included 2 year Wolverine Rocky Giglio who played on Wolverines White last year. He had an outstanding year in 2007. Another 2 year Wolverine, Dominick Scudiero returned to the Wolverines after taking last year off and Quarterback Glen Gammill made the jump from Flag Yellow to Flag Blue this year as a first grader. Another 2 year Wolverine Hayden Thornton also joined Flag Blue this year and had a great year.
New faces included Nehemiah Devanny who was exciting everytime he touched the ball. Other new faces Noah Sisemore, Gavin Suddarth, Justin Hanson, Jalenn Collins, and Justice Lucas all were big contributors to the teams success.
Despite the new faces and lack of returning players, the Blue Squad finished 4-5 and again qualified for the playoffs where they fell to one of the best flag teams assembled, the Pirates (Black) team.
The Missouri Wolverines Flag Program is built on fundamentals and teaching young boys the game of football which will hopefully inspire them to then join our tackle squads... this year's Flag Blue Team saw allot of new faces make a big impact and hopefully we will see these faces in the Wolverines Organization for many years to come.
Congrats on a great season and look forward to seeing you all at the 2007 Awards Banquet on December 9th.
