Pleasant Valley Park
FOOTBALL FIELD LIGHTS
Monday March 14, 2005

Well its March in Kansas City and the 2005 North Suburban Youth Football League regular season is still months away and for the most part its seems
like a normal spring for the fields up and Pleasant Valley Park.

The normal residents have once again made their way up to the park to feast on the spring grass and the fields are beginning to show
growth as warm air begins to role in.
However, as you walk around the park this year, there are 4 new objects that are going to be pretty hard to miss. The Wolverines game field has 4 poles standing over 100ft in the air with nice shinny glass fixtures on them. YES, the Wolverines game field at Pleasant Valley Park now has lights.
In an ongoing effort to improve conditions at Pleasant Valley Park, the Kansas City Parks and Rec Department as part of the Kansas City Works Capital Improvements Campaign installed lighting for the skateboard park, the baseball field parking lot, and one of the football fields. The improvements are a major endeavor for the city and a huge improvement for one of the nicest parks in the northland.
The lighting project on the footbal field only solidified the fact that Pleasant Valley Park as a result of the efforts of the Kansas City Parks & Rec and the Missouri Wolverines
Youth Organization continues to set the standard for what a youth football environment should be for young children.
Missouri Wolverines President Jim Tuso had the following comments regarding the lighting improvements:
"This is a huge happening for not only the Missouri Wolverines, who have been without electricity and spent a fortune on portable lights last year for practice, however but it is a
great accomplishment for the entire North Suburban Youth Football League as all the teams benefit from this improvement. Already with the lightning improvements, the possibility of holding some Simone Tournament games at night to alleviate traffic at Pleasant Valley Park is now possible. The fact that another field
within the league has lights to not only have A-Games but B-Games on, and along with Waterwell, Pleasant Valley is probably in the best shape of any fields with lights which is always important come playoff time.
This again is a great accomplishment and the entire Missouri Wolverines Organization along with the NSYFL is grateful to the Kansas City Parks & Rec Department for improving the park. A special thanks to Mike Herron, Tammie Tritico, and Brandi Briggs who have done an outstanding job
of assisting teams within the NSYFL on park improvements. Hopefully this is the only the start of even more improvements for fields within the NSYFL as the Kansas City Parks & Rec and NSYFL continue to grow together and develop an even stronger relationship and help provide a fun and safe environment
for youth sports in the northland."
