Congratuations to Pembroke Hill senior Harold Edwards who signed a letter of intent to play football at the University of Missouri of Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo., on Wednesday, Feb. 6.
Harold, who joined Pembroke Hill as a freshman in 2009, has been a four-year member of the Raider football team and earned a varsity letter each season. As both a linebacker and a running back, Harold contributed greatly to the team both on and off the field.
During his senior season, Harold made 101 tackles, and who can forget his last game against Oak Grove, when he collected 20 tackles? Harold completes his football career at Pembroke Hill as one of the school’s most proficient defenders with 217 tackles.
This season, he also had 71 carries for 462 yards and six touchdowns.
Harold was team captain his junior and senior years, and has been named All-District, All-State and Academic All-State. Additionally, he received the Raider Award, which is given to the student athlete most admired by peers and coaches. Harold was also chosen as a semi-finalist for the Bobby Bell Award, an honor given to Kansas City’s best small school linebacker.
In addition to football, Harold also is a member of Pembroke Hill’s track and field team.
Outside of athletics, Harold is a Campus Guide, was Homecoming King this fall and serves as secretary of the senior class. He volunteers for Harvesters and the True Light Family Resource Center.
Harold is truly an admired member of The Pembroke Hill School community. As one of his teachers said, “Harold is universally liked and respected. That admiration comes almost entirely from his attitude. He is one of the most respectful and hard working students I’ve had – not just this year, but in my career.”
Another teacher commented. “I love his intellectually curious mind and his fearlessness to ask any question, not to mention his unfailingly polite disposition. He works hard and balances school with sports, is friendly to his peers and shows himself to be a dedicated learner.”
Congratulations, Harold!
